What Is Rhinehoard?
Rhinehoard is a 5×3 Book-style slot at Aurion Casino based on German mythology. One symbol acts as both wild and scatter, and landing three or more of it triggers a free-spins feature where a randomly chosen symbol expands across reels.
The cast includes Wotan, Siegfried, Brünnhilde, and Fafnir the dragon, with rune symbols as lower-value filler.
How the BOOK Symbol Works
The BOOK symbol has two roles:
Wild: In base game, BOOK substitutes for any other paying symbol to complete winning lines.
Scatter: Three or more BOOK symbols anywhere on the 5×3 grid trigger the free-spins feature, regardless of which reels they land on.
This dual role means every BOOK on screen has value: it can improve a line win and potentially contribute to a scatter trigger.
The Expanding Symbol Feature
When free spins begin, one symbol is randomly chosen as the expanding symbol. For the entire feature, that symbol expands to fill all 3 rows of any reel it appears on. Multiple reels covered by the expanding symbol pay for all paylines crossing those reels simultaneously.
If Wotan or Siegfried is chosen as the expanding symbol, the potential payout is very large.
Retriggering
Landing three or more BOOK symbols during free spins awards additional free spins. The expanding symbol stays the same throughout the entire triggered feature, including any retriggered spins.
Strategy Tips
- The expanding symbol draw is the key variable. High-value symbols expanding produce the biggest wins. The draw is random — you cannot influence it.
- Three BOOKs in base game is the target. Beyond their value as wilds, BOOKs trigger the bonus. Every spin where multiple BOOKs land is valuable.
- Watch for retriggering. Additional BOOKs during free spins extend the feature with the same expanding symbol — compounding wins further.
- Three fully covered reels pays across all crossing paylines. This is where a single spin can return many multiples of the bet.
